Being preschooler when big brother or sister is preparing for back to school can be very difficult.  Suddenly there are new clothes and fun school supplies being bought for the older sibling and the younger can feel left out.  Here are some fun and activities you can do at home to make your little guy feel as special as he is.

~When you pack the older child's lunch the night before, pack two.  If the older child has a new lunch box, let the younger have last years (or buy them one of their own).  In the morning when you send your school aged child off, show the preschooler that she has a special lunch in the fridge too.  At lunch time let her eat right out of the box, like a big girl.  (c:
~Set up a morning learning time for your child.  Buy some preschool educational workbooks at your local discount store or print some from the internet.
~Buy a set of new at home school supplies for your preschooler.  Things like fat crayons and pencils, safety scissors and a glue stick are great.  Get a school supplies box and store all of your child's big kid stuff together.  Make it something special that they only use at learning time and you won't be searching for crayons or have holes in clothing from scissors.  (c:
~Let your preschooler have a weekly library field trip on the same day big brother or sister has library at school.  This will encourage reading and make your child feel very special.
~Give your preschooler a special role in your home.  Our daughter (4) is in charge of taking care of our houseplants, Gertrude and Icabod.  Houseplants are great, they teach kids responsibility without the mess and extra trouble of a pet.  Once your child is old enough move on to fish or another easy to care for pet.  This makes your child much more ready for a puppy or a kitten.
