Standing on the Rock of Jesus

Many times when people begin to talk about faith they form a list of their personal beliefs, yet forget to tell people why their faith is important to the person they are.  That seems pretty formal to me, and my relationship with God isn't formal.  He's there for me anytime, day or night.  I don't have to make an appointment or wait for a designated day.  I guess my point is that here you won't find a list of things I believe, instead I am going to tell you about my faith and why it's important to me.

The Bible defines faith as the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.  You know that feeling you get when you want something so bad and you know it's going to happen, that's faith; or when you ask God for something, like a healing, and you believe you have it before you can see it, that's faith.  Through faith I believe God (not a big bang) created all things.  Through faith I know my God will take care of me and my family.  My faith gives me encouragement when I am down and it helps to lift me higher when I am up.  I don't worry about things like I once did, because I know God will take care of them if I let Him.  I believe in a God I can not see because I have faith.  I know He is there just as I know I am here, because without Him and His love I couldn't make it through.  God loved me (and you) so much He was willing to send His only begotten Son (Jesus) here to die for us so that we could go to Heaven to live with Him.  That lets me know that God has more love than I can fathom; no matter how much I care about someone, there is no way I would be willing to let one of my children die for that person.  No one is more important in my life than my children, and God feels the same way.  When we ask Jesus to become our personal Savior, we are being adopted into God's family, becoming on of His children.  Not only does that mean that we have a wonderful Father who loves us very much, but we also have a great big brother who has lived a human life and can give us advice and comfort in our daily lives.  Being adopted into this family doesn't guarantee you worldly wealth or a life with no more problems or worries; but it does guarantee you a mansion in Heaven and someone stronger and wiser to help you through your problems and to take away your worries.

You can become a part of God's family the same as I have.  It doesn't matter what you've done in the past, God is willing to forgive you, but you have to ask Him first.  When we ask God to take away all our sins and make us a new person, we are asking for salvation.  It's not hard, and it's the best decision you can ever make.  Here is an easy step by step way for you to ask God to save you.  Remember, you must mean it when you pray, God will forgive you if you are sincerely sorry for the things you have done.

The ABCs of Salvation

Admit you are a sinner and need God to forgive you.

Believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that He died for your sins.

Confess your sins and ask God to forgive you.
